An elderly couple from Fairview, New Jersey was killed in one-car accident on Palisades Interstate.

The accident occurred at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday as the 81-year-old husband was driving the vehicle southbound on the highway when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons.

The vehicle then swerved and struck a wooden median in the road causing it to spin off and crash into a tree before finally coming to a stop. The 81-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and his 79-year-old wife, who was partially thrown from the vehicle in the crash, was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
