The accident occurred on Sunday around noon on the Garden State Parkway, when a man driving his 2002 Saab sedan southbound lost control of the vehicle. He veered into oncoming traffic, hitting a Nissan Sentra. A third car struck the Sentra. The driver of the Saab and a 28-year-old passenger of the Sentra were killed. Traffic was shut down for approximately four hours.
