A New York woman with an undiagnosed sleep disorder was cleared by a Canadian judge of fault in the vehicular deaths of two people. If you or someone you love has been injured or worse in a car accident, the New Jersey auto accident lawyers at the Law Office of Levinson Axelrod, P.A. may be able to fight for your justice.
The accident occurred late in 2007 as the woman was driving from Montreal to Toronto. She fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the back of a disabled vehicle, killing the occupant. The woman’s father also died in the accident. Sleep disorder experts testified that the woman appeared to be suffering from an undiagnosed prior condition called idiopathic hypersomnolence, a disorder that causes excessive sleepiness and decreased alertness and ability to react. The woman was acquitted by a judge.
