Drivers involved in fatal crashes will submit to sobriety test in new NJ bill

Posted on August 12th, 2010 No Comments

A new law that is being proposed in New Jersey states that drivers that are involved an accident where death or serious injury occurs will have to submit to a sobriety test.

The current law is that drivers are submitted to these tests when there is a definite suspicion that they have been driving under the influence. The bill states that the driver will either have to blow into a breathalyzer or submit to a blood test when pulled over.

This new legislation stems from an accident in 2007 that killed the passenger in a vehicle and the 17-year-old driver was not required to take a sobriety test and she was just charged with careless driving.

Staying safe on New Jersey highways

Posted on August 5th, 2010 No Comments

New Jersey highways can be overcrowded and full over dangerous drivers and construction projects which may make it difficult to drive safely.

Impatient drivers can be very intimidating and cause serious accidents. Driving recklessly at peak hours such as the morning and afternoon commute may make other drivers feel as if they need to drive aggressively for protection.

This is not the answer, driving defensively is the only way to fight back against unsafe drivers. For example, keep a safe distance between yourself and the car in front you. Using the two second rule, or counting two seconds between when the car in front of you passes a fixed object until you  pass the same fixed object, is the best way to do this.

Driving safely is important for yourself and to keep others on the road safe. If you have been injured in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, contact the New Jersey reckless driving car accident lawyers of Levinson and Axelrod by calling 800-346-5529.
